Most people do not know what are warts exactly, and how to address them properly. This is because these appear on skin in different form in different parts of the body. Therefore, common people fail to recognize this accurately, but a doctor can identify this promptly by looking at this. However, you also can mark wart if your skin gets it and this article will help you to know about this skin problem closely.

What are Warts 

A wart is a small and rough skin growth that looks like a solid blister. A type of virus that is called Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is responsible for this.  There are several types of HPV. This virus forms wart on the top layer of skin by entering through broken area of the skin in your body. Warts are usually painless and they come in various shapes and sizes, but it is painful when it grows on the sole of foot and your put pressure on it. 

Warts can grow any part of the body and it looks in different form in different parts of the body. They are contagious and it can spread easily from person to person. You may get it by using towels and other personal items of a wart-infected person. Even you can infect yourself by touching wart and touching other parts of your body afterward. However, it is not always the case that you get it every time you come upon HPV.

Some people get warts once, but some people get them on chronic basis. Most of them are harmless and most warts disappear on their own within months or years. However, if your warts are spreading or painful, you should undergo for treatment.

Treatment of Warts


Wart treatment can be done at home using natural remedies or over-the-counter products. Often natural remedies are safe to use, but they do not work always. Some over-the-counter products have proven successful to cure this skin problem. Many wart removal products can be found at local drug store and supermarkets. These products involve dropping acid like salicylic acid and duct tape. 

Surgery, laser surgery and cryotherapy are other options that are relatively intense method to get rid of warts. For this, you need to visit a doctor.  Still they do not guarantee you that wart will not return later. This is because, most treatment only destroys the wart, but they do not kill HPV, which is the culprit of this problem.
